What is a civil partnership?
A civil partnership is a legal relationship which can be registered by two people who aren't related to each other. Civil partnerships are available to same-sex couples and opposite-sex couples. Registering a civil partnership will give your relationship legal recognition.
Registration and dissolution
Once registered, it can only be ended if one of you dies, or by applying to the court to bring the partnership to an end. However, you cannot apply to bring a civil partnership to an end until it has lasted for at least one year.
Our Family Law Team are able to provide legal experience and expertise in relationship to civil partnerships and dissolution proceedings.
